Inca Trail 2 Days Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – KM 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu
Your adventure begins early with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. You’ll travel to Ollantaytambo and take the train to KM 104, the starting point of your trek.
From here, you’ll hike approximately 4 hours uphill to reach Wiñay Wayna, an impressive Inca archaeological site surrounded by lush vegetation. After enjoying your box lunch with stunning views, you’ll continue towards Inti Punku (Sun Gate).
From this iconic viewpoint, you’ll get your first unforgettable view of Machu Picchu, often with fewer crowds. Afterward, you’ll descend and take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Start your day early to reach Machu Picchu and enjoy the sunrise at this iconic site.
You’ll have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours, exploring the most important areas of the citadel and learning about Inca history and architecture.
After the tour, you’ll have free time and the option to hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (tickets must be booked in advance). If you prefer a non-trekking option, you can also consider the Machu Picchu Day Trip from Cusco.
In the afternoon, return to Aguas Calientes and take the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by private transport to Cusco.
